Our Story
I’m Liz. My wife, Katie, and I are building The Painted Egret—our dream art studio in Tifton, GA. Katie is a Tifton native, and I’m a Michigan transplant who’s fallen for the South. With a BFA in Studio Art and a focus in Painting from WMU’s Gwen Frostic School of Art, I’ve spent years creating and teaching art privately, as well as working as a software engineer. Katie is a lawyer here in Tifton and has begun her own journey into woodworking. Together (with our two dogs), we decided to trade in the ordinary for something a little wilder—a creative space where we can both stretch our artistic wings.
We’re also planning a massive garden with animals because why not make life a little more chaotic and a lot more joyful? Since we were already building this for ourselves, we thought, why not invite the whole community to join us? At The Painted Egret, we’re all about creating, learning, and connecting—with a little dirt under our nails and a lot of paint on our hands..
